Whitney Houston honoured in Dubai

Whitney Houston dominated the charts for decades with her powerhouse ballads and moving vocals. Her voice was one of the most recognised and beloved in the world, is now silent at 48, she passed away in the bathroom of a hotel in Hollywood. Tributes to the icon poured in from all over the world, each marking the passing of this remarkably talented woman in their own way, from videos to emotional renditions of her songs.

In Dubai, the world’s largest and most expensive man made lake, the Burj Khalifa Lake, which is 30 acres long, and its hugely impressive fountain paid their own unique tribute to the pop diva. The fountain, which is over 900 foot long and can spray water jets up to 500 feet (150m) into the air, the equivalent of a 50-storey building preformed a tribute to the singer that want viral days after its upload to youtube. A video of the performance, which cost $218million, was uploaded to youtube and within two days had gotten over 340,000 views. Houston fans have praised the video saying it was “beautiful and a fitting tribute” (http://www.thedubaimall.com/en/entertainment/entertainment-section/the-dubai-fountain.html) for a woman who inspired generations of singers and performers. An icon who’s legacy will live on.
