Job Summary: Primary Duties: 

  • Completes assigned responsibilities within established hospital, divisional and unit specific guidelines, policies and procedures, standards, protocols, etc.
  • Actively participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of unit-based orientation and skills competency assessments.
  • Maintains high visibility (90% clinical presence) on area(s) of responsibility.
  • Evaluates and instructs staff and students in the performance of direct patient care and clinical documentation.
  • Assists in planning, implementing and evaluating skill development programs for staff/students in coordination with Nurse Manager and
  • Nursing Education Department and faculty (s).
  • Demonstrates effective communication and collaboration skills when interacting with patients/families, other health care team members and members of other departments.
  • Refers staff and students performance concerns to Nurse Managers.
  • Acts as a resource to staff and student for patient care related skills and knowledge.
  • Maintains all records pertaining to the operation of the area of assignment and generates reports as required.
  • Assesses learning needs of staff and students and develops learning plans in conjunction with the Nurse Manager Nursing Education and University faculty.
  • Maintains documentation related to staff and students developmental needs and action plans.
  • Assumes responsibility for own professional growth.

Experience and Education Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with a current Nursing license
  • Diploma in Nursing 
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing 
  • Three (3) years current clinical experience in specific area 
  • Previous experience in a teaching role - Preferred
  • Specific Certification as required in area of assignment 
  • Computer Skills: Proficient
