Job Overview:

Our client is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator - Cardiac Cath Lab to join their team. Assists the development of nursing education course curriculum and teaches a variety of educational programs as required for the Nursing Department. Is an educational resource person for nurse managers, nurse clinicians and all nursing staff.


Job Summary - Primary Duties:

 

  • Ensures through his/her actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the Hospital
  • Acts as a role model in providing safe and high-quality patient care.
  • Helps in optimizing resources to improve safety and quality of patient care.
  • Works with clinical staff to ensure that high standards of patient care are maintained. 
  • Ensures that clinical components of educational programs are being implemented by units/wards.  Works in conjunction with Nurse Clinicians to achieve this goal.
  • Prepares lesson plans, teaches and evaluates educational programs.
  • Identifies and develops topics for future educational programs.
  • Assists the NEC in reviewing and evaluating education programs and materials offered by the department.
  • Conducts formal and informal unit-based in-services as required.
  • Presents topics at the Nursing Orientation program held on a monthly basis.
  • Ensures own personal and professional development in cardiac and critical care nursing.
  • Prepares and disseminates educational and informational material.
  • Performs various administrative duties including report generation, compiling statistics and proof-reading educational materials before printing.
  • Maintains written records of employee attendance at orientation, in-services and other educational programs.
  • Provides annual leave cover for the NEC.
  • Participates in recruitment and staff promotion interviews for nurse educator positions as required.
  • Ensures policies and procedures, skills competencies and nursing departmental policies and procedures are followed.
  • Participates in Nursing Department and hospital wide CQI&PS activities.
  • Motivates departmental staff by effectively leading, directing and motivating employees to perform to the best of their abilities
  • Attends and participates in Hospital committees as requested.

Experience and Education Requirements

 

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
  • Current licensure (RN) with a nursing governing body from the employee’s country of origin.
  • BLS certification.
  • Master degree in Nursing or Nursing Education. (Desirable)
  • Five (5) years cardiac-related nursing experience working in a medium to large size health care facility, including a minimum of three (3) years recent work experience in the role of Nurse Clinician/Educator.
