Job Overview: Health Coaches engage individuals and groups in evidence-based, patient-centered processes that facilitate and empower patients to develop and achieve self-determined, health and wellness goals. Health Coaches assist patients to use their own insight, personal strengths, and resources to set goals, commit to action steps, and establish auto-accountability in building an envisioned healthy lifestyle. In this way, Health Coaches empower patients through encouragement, exploration, the mobilization of internal strengths, the identification and utilization of external resources, and through the support and development of self-management strategies for executing sustainable, healthy lifestyle changes.

Experience and Education Requirements

• Department of Health Abu Dhabi licensed healthcare professional (requires primary license as a healthcare professional in any medical field) and
• Accredited status as a Health Coach with Association for Coaches
• Evidence of a minimum of 100 hours of health coaching accumulated post-certification course.
• Aspiring Health Coach license applicants must achieve Accredited Health Coach status with the Association for Coaching prior to Health Coach license issue. Certification is initially required by one of the following: UKIHCA, NBHWC, or HCANZA, or as an NHS certified Health Coach after which an application can be made to the Association for Coaches.
• Re-accreditation will occur every 2-years in line with the DoH license re-issue process where re-accreditation will be subject to meeting the terms and conditions outlined by the Association for Coaches.
