Job Overview: Our client is seeking a Senior Research Specialist to join their team. The Senior Research Specialist is a research specialist who manages and supervises research coordinators and assistants, and provides support to the corporate facilities, equipment, policies, procedures, training, security and day to day space management.

Job Summary: Primary Duties:

  • Manage corporate research laboratory and basic sciences spaces and their utilisation including access (security) and training for authorised personnel.  
  • Supervise processes to access corporate research laboratory space and shared equipment, as well as maintenance of corporate equipment and shared equipment that are approved by their direct supervisor).
  • Supervise research staff (research coordinators and research assistants) and student areas and provide support service to ensure that these facilities and equipment are appropriately utilised and beneficial research staff and students.
  • Maintain liaison with investigators, research personnel and students to solve specific operating problems and improve activities, solve issues and identify/bring forward issues that require discussion and/or decisions and/or corporate approval.
  • Monitor and review changing practices in the field of clinical research administration and facilities and all associated areas related to regulations, best practice standards, and recognised leadership in the field. 
  • Provide guidance and advice to principal investigators, research staff and research students with respect to the above. 
  • Maintain confidentiality and release of information in accordance with the institutional policy at all times.
  • Obligation to review and commit to applicable institutional and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Implementation of policies and procedures approved where appropriate by the research institution.
  • Support the development of new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and prepare draft documents, review and update existing SOPs in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders. 
  • Attend and support committees related to relevant departments and sections within the research institution as appropriate. 
  • Provide training and orientation to the research facilities, including general orientation, health and safety, corporate/shared equipment use and maintenance and biohazard waste collection and disposal.
  • Audit the use of corporate space and equipment to ensure that it is in line with agreed allocations, policies and standards. Conduct audits, inspections, risk assessments, reviews procedures, policies, and report results to the appropriate internal authority.

Experience and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing
  • Master's in Nursing (Desirable)
  • Minimum Five (5) years’ experience, with at least three (3) years' experience as a senior/supervisor.
  • Current licensure (RN) with a nursing governing body from the employee's country of origin.
